Benidorm is situated in a privileged position on the Costa Blanca, just south of the other popular resorts of Altea and Javea
and northeast of Alicante. It is jealously guarded by the Sierra de Aitana mountain range which protects it from the sometimes inclement cold north winds of winter
providing a mild climate even in through the colder months.
Benidorm of course is mostly know as one of Spain's top tourist destinations, tourism here developed in the 1960s and has long been a favourite destination by most Europeans including the Spanish National market ever since. You may be forgiven in thinking that Benidorm offers little more than hotels, British pubs and discos however this is far from the case. Benidorm really does offer just about everything you could hope for in a family holiday.
Benidorms hotels provide over 35,000 beds with thousands more being provided by Apartments and other holiday units. There around 1000 restaurants to choose from and
some 30 discotheques.
There are two main beaches the Playa de Poniente and the Playa de Levante which are some 5 kms long and offer golden clean sands, the Playa Levante. can get pretty crowded during the hight season ( July- August ) , the Levante Playa is backed up by a broad promenade and lined with a large selection of Bars, Cafes and Restaurants. Mal Pas is a smaller beach beneath the port and the castle cliffs. La Cala is another quiet sandy beach.
