The Magna Marbella Golf course was designed by Jose Maria Elguezabel and has 9 holes between 125 and 275 metres , Par 29. Jose Maria has used the contours of the land well creating a course that has both easy and difficult holes which allows players of all levels to enjoy this picturesque par 3 course. The course lays to the west of the famous golf valley of Nueva Andlaucia in Marbella and enjoys fantastic views over the mountains and surrounding countryside of this famous part of Andalucia.

Playing here is great value at 25 Euros for 9 Holes. You can also play a round here in about 2 hours which makes it attractive to players wishing to enjoy a challenging and fun round without venturing onto the larger 18 hole courses.

There is good use of water hazards which are abundant on the first 3 and 9th holes which lay on the lower part of the course, from the the 4th hole the course is tiered up to the 9th.

The 1st hole is 124 metres of the yellow tees with a largish water hazard laying between you and the green. If you are not accurate in your play the ball should be hit to the right where it will run down the bank onto the green.

The 2nd is one of two par 4 holes and the longest at 275 metres. Most players will hit there first ball around 180 to 200 metres slightly to the right of the fairway which will give you a nice easy wedge shot over the water hazard , be careful not to over hit the second shot or you will end up in the one of the three bunkers at the back of the green.

The 3rd is nice flat 119 metre hole, don't be put of by the water hazard between you and hole and head for the mid left of the green

The 4th is 122 metres of the yellow tees and like all the holes at Magna accuracy is the number one factor to achieving Par. The tees are slightly elevated so you have a good view to the green. Keep the tee shot slightly to the left , the green is well protected by two large bunkers at the front of the green, also if you overhit the tee shot you will end up either running of the green down the slope at the back or will finish up in one of three bunkers which lay at the back of the green.

The 4th is 141 metres with the green in an elevated position in respect to the teeing ground so take an extra club here as it feel more like 160 metres. The hazards here lay to the left with a large steep bunker located between you an the hole. The idea is to hit your first shot to the right of the hole over the bunker and ridge and leave it on the green . If you hit the ball short here its best to play it slightly right which will leave you a reasonably comfortable chip shot onto the green.

The 6th hole is some 162 metres with the hazards laying to the right, there are a steep slope to the left of the hole, head for the middle left of the fairway, if you hit your shot right your ball will end up on the 4th and 5th fairways which will leave you with a difficult uphill and blind shot if you are to place it on the green on your 2nd shot.

The 7th is 148 metres from the yellow tees and again accuracy is most important if you are to make Par. The green is slightly elevated from the teeing ground and your first shot should be played to the right of the hole to miss the large tree which has been strategically placed in the middle of the fairway, if you miss the green on your first shot your ball will roll down off the slope to the right.

The 8th hole is a 237 metres par 4 hole and one the second most difficult. You are hitting your first shop blind here as the hole is located over and around the ridge between you and the green. It should be hit around 150 metres straight up the middle even slightly right of the fairway , this will leave you with a good view of the green on your second shot which should be played to the left of the green to avoid and hill and hazards to the right of the hole.

The 9th is 162 Metres handicap 1 par 3 hole. It is long and straight and leads you back toward the club house. There is a water hazard on the left and a large bunker and slope to the right so accuracy is a must here. The safest shot here is to lay up some 20 metres before the hole on the left side of the fairway, this will leave you an easy approach shot onto the large green.

Overall the course is well maintained with the large greens usually in excellent condition and when the holes are placed in the right position can be also quite demanding as they do flow around some interesting although not outrageous undulations.

The installations at the club include a good practice area, 3 putting greens, a well stocked pro shop. The club also offers private golfing tuition and school run by head professional Manuel Cabanillas. For your after golf activities the club house offers a popular restaurant with a large terrace and striking views over the course.
