BENIDORM

Benidorm

Benidorm

Benidorm is situated in a privileged position on the Costa Blanca, just south of the other popular resorts of Altea and Javea and northeast of Alicante. It is jealously guarded by the Sierra de Aitana mountain range which protects it from the sometimes inclement cold north winds of winter providing a mild climate even in through the colder months.

Benidorm of course is mostly know as one of Spain's top tourist destinations, tourism here developed in the 1960s and has long been a favourite destination by most Europeans including the Spanish National market ever since. You may be forgiven in thinking that Benidorm offers little more than hotels, British pubs and discos however this is far from the case. Benidorm really does offer just about everything you could hope for in a family holiday.

Benidorms hotels provide over 35,000 beds with thousands more being provided by Apartments and other holiday units. There around 1000 restaurants to choose from and some 30 discotheques.

There are two main beaches the Playa de Poniente and the Playa de Levante which are some 5 kms long and offer golden clean sands, the Playa Levante. can get pretty crowded during the hight season ( July- August ) , the Levante Playa is backed up by a broad promenade and lined with a large selection of Bars, Cafes and Restaurants. Mal Pas is a smaller beach beneath the port and the castle cliffs. La Cala is another quiet sandy beach.

Benidorm by night

A 10 minute boat ride will get you to the mysterious rock you can see looming offshore called Peacock Island. See the birds and walk around the island and enjoy looking back over Benidorms shimmering high rise skyline, you can also take a fascinating journey beneath the seas in the Aquascope and discover the underwater sea life. I would also recommend the boat ride along the coast to Calpe which lies in the shadow of the majestic Peņon de Ifach, an impressive large rock jutting out to see off the Calpe Coastline. It is in fact a declared National Park since 1987 where over 300 species of flora can be found. You can also climb to the top up the winding pathway to the top where you will be rewarded by spectacular views over the beautiful town of Calpe.

Nearby there are some excellent theme parks and attractions such as the now famous Terra Mitica which ahs the longest wooden rollercoaster in the Mediterranean, Aqualandia which is a giant leisure and water park with many exciting slides and rides, and and Mundomar .

Explore the Old Benidorm of narrow streets near the castle where you will find plenty of small pubs along the Calle Vicente and the lanes close by. And of course there are some great discotheques , night clubs and other music bars to pass away the night. Another must place to visit is the Benidorm Palace where you will be entertained with a glittering 3 hour Las Vegas-style show. Spanish dancers and flamenco, jugglers and magicians are just some of the quality acts on offer.

Benidorm as we all know has so much to offer in the way of hotels, hostels and Pensions which really will suit all pockets and tastes. With holidays to Costa Blanca you can choose from a variety of great summer resorts.

Our most reviewed and top rated establishments include the Complejo Poseidon Set 350 metres from Levante Beach in Benidorm, the Complejo Poseidon has 2 outdoor swimming pools and spacious gardens. A gym, jacuzzi and heated pool are open in winter. The Poseidon complex is made up of the Poseidon and the Poseidon Palace, which share facilities. All rooms come with a balcony, satellite TV and a marble bathroom.
