The Barcelona airport Prat de Llobregat is as you would expect on of Spain's busiest, in terms of traffic it handled some 30 Million passengers in 2006 and over 325.000 flights which was a 10% increase on 2005. The travellers which use this airport are not only International visitors holidaying in the city and the Costa Brava close by , the city of Barcelona is one of the worlds top tourist destinations specially popular for weekend breaks.

Barcelona Airport applies terminal use by company criteria, regardless of the destination or origin of the flight, so flights may depart from any of the three terminals. The 3 terminals in operation are T1. T2 and T3. All the worlds major airlines use the airport and there are some 59 boarding gates to insure efficiency regarding passengers boarding and flight departures. Terminals 1 and 2 are used by the foreign airlines with T3 being used mostly by Iberia for regional flights. In T1 there are 8 baggage carousels in 8 in T2 and a further 2 in T3.

The Main Car Hire Companies represented ate the airport are Avis, Hertz, Solmar, Europcar and National Atesa.

A large selection of shops, bars, cafeterias and Restaurants mostly situated in Terminals 1 and 2 will keep you occupied and refreshed during your stay at the airport, and of course it's a great way to purchase those forgotten gifts and spend the last of your holiday money before departure not to mention spraying yourself with 20 different kinds of the worlds finest perfumes.
