Airport Information in Spain   Airport Information:

Palma de Mallorca airport is one of the busiest in Spain ranked just behind Madrid and Barcelona in passenger numbers. It processed a mighty 22.726.459 Passengers in 2011 with 180.139 flight operations.

The airport is located 8 km from the city and is the gateway for the millions of tourists who visit the island every year. It is a large and modern facility dealing with primarily international traffic which peaks during the summer months. The most important flight connections are to Barcelona and Madrid-Barajas, with over one million passengers, and Düsseldorf and Manchester, handling over 700,000 passengers annually. The main terminal building is large and modern and has four boarding areas ( A-B-C-D) . Area C is currently closed as the airport authorities plan to increase the embarkation gates from 20 to 33 to cope with the increasing air traffic that is expected.

Arrivals: Passenger arrivals is located on the ground floor. On disembarking from the plane follow the signs along the corridors to reach the arrivals level of the terminal. From there, you may pick up your luggage. If your plane parks at a remote location on the airport grounds, a bus will pick you up and take you to the arrivals level of the terminal, where you can pick up your luggage. There are eighteen carousels. Baggage reclaim carousels 8 and 9 are reserved for flights from non-Schengen and non-EU

Departures: The check-in desks are situated, from left to right, according to zone (A, B, C, D, E, F) and number (1 to 204). Passengers flying with Iberia who only have hand luggage may also obtain their boarding passes from the automatic dispenser machines of these companies located on the same floor. Once the passenger has collected his boarding pass, he must go to the fourth floor (departures), pass through the security checkpoint and make his way to his boarding gate. If the passenger in question has arrived at Palma on a Mediterranean cruise, he can check-in his luggage and collect his boarding pass at the seaport. In this way, he can see the city of Palma unburdened by suitcases before going to the airport to catch his flight.

Oversized luggage check-in: If you would like to bring bicycles, surfboards or any other oversized object on board, you should also take it to the check-in desk that corresponds with your airline and flight. Once there, the person in charge will accompany you to the oversized luggage desks, where you will finally leave your items.

There are 99 boarding gates which are located in four modules (A, B, C, D), which consist of different floors. The entrance to the modules is on the fourth floor. Ensure you know the location of your boarding gate before proceeding there. To do this, look for the signs that indicate the different directions of the gates (A, B, C, D). Once you are headed in the right direction, simply look for the gate number.

Catering / Shopping : There are plenty of shops and restaurants to suit all tastes and are located in the main terminal building and in all the 4 boarding areas.

Parking: There is a direct connecting tunnel from the fourth floor of the car park to the departures area of the terminal. There is a baggage reclaim carousel that connects the arrivals level of the terminal with the car park. There are also automatic payment machines on the fourth floor and the ground level.
